A dryer that tumbles but never gets warm usually has a blown thermal fuse or a failed heating element. Clear the lint trap, then check that the vent flap outside opens fully while it runs. A long or crushed vent run traps lint and heat, and that is how dryer fires start. If clothes take two cycles to dry, or the cabinet is hot to the touch or smells burnt, unplug it and stop using it. A dishwasher that leaves water standing in the bottom usually has a clogged filter or a failed drain pump. Pull the bottom rack, lift out the filter and clear the food and bits of glass, then check that the drain hose under the sink isn't kinked. An oven that won't reach temperature is usually a failed bake element on an electric range or a weak igniter on a gas one. Check that the breaker hasn't tripped and look at the element for a blister or a break. If you smell gas, don't use the range: open a window, leave the house and call your gas utility.
